Platform Use & Terms

StoryEngine is an AI-native cultural intelligence platform developed by scenarioDNA, a New York–based cultural foresight consultancy. Built on our patented Culture Mapping methodology and the research behind the Routledge book Story Systems and Cultural Research, the platform helps users analyze cultural signals, map narrative dynamics, simulate strategic scenarios, and conduct structured cultural research.

StoryEngine combines specialized AI assistants designed to support deeper cultural analysis, challenge assumptions, and reduce bias in interpretation. The system is intended to augment human judgment, not replace it.

Outputs generated by the platform do not constitute legal, financial, professional, or strategic advice, and users remain solely responsible for decisions made using the platform. StoryEngine is intended to support human analysis and learning, not replace independent research, professional judgment, or verification through external sources. Users remain responsible for evaluating outputs, confirming important information, and applying appropriate academic, professional, or ethical standards.

By accessing or using StoryEngine, you agree to these policies. Users must be at least 18 years old and are responsible for maintaining the security of their account credentials. Use of the platform must comply with applicable laws and these policies.

Certain features require a paid subscription. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled before the next billing period. Trial periods may be offered where indicated. Subscription fees are generally non-refundable unless required by law.

The StoryEngine platform, its frameworks, and its methodologies are the intellectual property of scenarioDNA inc. Users retain ownership of their submitted content but grant scenarioDNA a limited license to process that content in order to provide the service.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York.

Privacy, Data & Security

scenarioDNA collects only the information necessary to operate the StoryEngine platform. This may include account details such as name, email address, login credentials, and account preferences. Payments are processed by third-party providers, and scenarioDNA does not store full payment card information.

While using StoryEngine, users may submit prompts, chat messages, images, files, or research materials. This content is processed in order to generate AI-assisted responses. Limited system information, including session activity and request counts, may also be collected to maintain platform stability and enforce usage limits.

User content and chat histories remain private and isolated per subscriber. scenarioDNA does not sell personal information and does not use subscriber content to train public AI models.

StoryEngine runs on secure, managed cloud infrastructure with enterprise-grade authentication, payments, and hosting providers.

Responsible Use & Platform Limits

StoryEngine uses artificial intelligence to support cultural analysis and structured interpretation. AI outputs are probabilistic and may contain inaccuracies or incomplete information. Outputs should not be treated as factual or professional advice, and users remain responsible for evaluating results and verifying important information independently.

Users may not use StoryEngine to generate illegal, harmful, abusive, discriminatory, or deceptive content. The platform may not be used to impersonate individuals or organizations, distribute malware, spread intentional misinformation, harass others, or attempt to bypass platform safeguards.

Users may not reverse engineer the system, scrape platform data, automate excessive requests, attempt to access other users’ data, or resell platform access without authorization. scenarioDNA reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these policies or threaten the integrity of the platform.

To maintain reliable performance and fair access, StoryEngine operates with defined usage guardrails. Subscribers may send up to 2,500 messages per month, with request limits of 10 per minute and 100 per hour. Prompts may contain up to 25,000 tokens, and conversation history retains the most recent 20 messages per thread.

Some toolkits support image uploads, including Digital Flaneur, Crisis Simulator, Packaging Analysis, Speculative Futures, Visualizing Unknowns, and Space Analysis. Image generation is disabled by default and limited to 50 images per month if enabled. Generated images are stored for 14 days, after which they are automatically removed.

These policies may be updated periodically. Continued use of StoryEngine constitutes acceptance of any updated terms.
